Engineered by Love - Karapiro | K + J
This session with Krystal & Jeff took place in the lush, forested edges of Karapiro by the river — a setting that perfectly matched the mood they naturally bring together.
These two have such a fun, grounded energy as a couple, and it was really important to weave something into their session that reflected who they are outside of just “posing for photos.” Their shared love of cars became a natural part of the story, adding personality and meaning to the shoot without ever feeling staged or forced.
I chose a darker, more cinematic direction for this session, using the forest canopy and soft filtered light to create depth and atmosphere. Krystal wore a deep red dress from my client wardrobe, which added a striking contrast against the moody greens and shadows of the river setting.
As always, I worked with a balance of gentle direction and space to just let things unfold. We moved through different pockets of the landscape, leaning into natural interaction, movement, and connection while using the environment to shape the feel of each frame.
The result is a session that feels bold, intimate, and slightly cinematic — a reflection of their personalities and the energy they share together.
